Carter studied Layla for a long moment. Finally, he opened the door a bit wider for the woman to come in. He took Flash's hand and held it close to him. Carter wasn't going to let her go anywhere alone with this woman.

Layla walks inside and glances at Carter, before walking toward the living room. Layla was short, unlike Flash, and actually looked Italian, with her fair skin wide eyes and dark hair.

Carter closed the door and turned around to face Flash, waiting to see what she was going to do.

Flash looks at Carter and sighs. "I don't know what she wants. But I will talk to her," She whispers.

Flash nods, and walks toward the living room, keeping a frown on her face. Layla looked up, having been going through the pictures on the mantle, and smiles at Flash. "Hello sweetheart," She smiles.

Carter watched Layla with hard eyes.

Flash watches her quietly. "Hey mom," She whispers, and stays in the doorway. "If you think I'm having hard feelings against you for trying to kill me, your wrong sweety. I know your dad made you do it," Layla says simply, and smiles.

Flash winced slightly, before frowning. "No. I just want to know how your alive," She replies. "I'm alive because I'm smart. And I don't want you to marry him. Your father told me everything that's been happening. I don't approve," She says calmly.

Carter narrowed his eyes. "What makes you think we're looking for your approval?"

Layla grins widely. "Flash has always wanted her mother's approval," She replies. Flash frowns, and watches Layla quietly.

Carter let go of Flash's hand and stepped toward Layla. "You think you can just walk right in here and tell her how to live her life? I don't think so."

"Well, your aren't her mother now are you? No. You just a desk jockey," Layla replies calmly.

"Yes, but until she is 26, by law, I have a say in everything," Layla replies calmly and looks at Carter, narrowing her eyes. "Plus, this house is mine. My name is on the deed. So I could say you were trespassing," She adds. Flash sighs, and sits on the couch, throwing her arm over her eyes. "Now I know why I lived with dad," She whispers, and shuts her eyes tightly.

Layla frowns and straightens up, walking closer to Carter. "While she is under my roof, she will not be seeing you," She replies sternly, and crosses her arms. "Than I'll live with dad again. You don't really have a say in my life, you lost that when you used me to fake your death," Flash whispers, and gets up slowly. "I'll be gone by noon," She adds, and walks toward the stairs.

Flash pauses at the top of the stairs, and looked at Carter. "I can't do this, Carter. I can't be near her," She whispers. Juliette started crying loudly from her room. Dylan soon started crying after that.

Carter nodded and said, "I will find us a plac to live. Your fathers house isn't an option, Mary. I'm a cop." He kissed her forehead, then headed toward the sound of the crying kids.

Flash sighed, and ran a hand through her hair, following after Carter. "I know. I'll get up with Joey and see if we can stay with him for a few days. He''ll be more than happy to see the kids," She whispers, and walks into the room first, scooping up Juliette. Juliette immediately stopped crying, and feel asleep in Flash's arms.
