"When we were about 10, we escaped. We were fed up with it. In the middle of the night, we just snuck out of the window. It wasn't hard, really. The hard part was making it on our own. We would just find things, and sell them. It wasn't until we started finding really valuable crystals and gemstones when we were able to get a house and all that. Now we're financially okay.... For now, at least. Until I can get a job."

Brian looked sort of bummed out, "I've always wanted to know what it'd be like to be able to make your own living. Life gets boring when you always have things being handed to you.."

Crystal shook her head. "That sounds like heaven to me. The first few years of our escape was extremely stressful. Half of the time, we didn't know when our next meal would be..."

"Yes really." He put his hands flat down on the table and slightly leaned forward again, engaging in the conversation, "How long have you know Rave?"

Crystal thought for a moment. "I can't remember exactly, but I think since I was either eleven or twelve... So, three, four years maybe?"

"Well, yeah. We're best friends!" She laughed lightly. "Duh." She rested her elbow on the table again and laid her cheek against her hand.

"What about this Santanta guy. He seemed cool when we first met, then he almost popped my shoulder out of its socket. Does he have a mental... Disorder? Or something?" His voice faded toward the end of the sentence.

Crystal frowned slightly. "No." She said almost sharply. "He, just has a temper sometimes... But he doesn't usually snap like that unless you did something to tick him off." Then she put both hand down on the table and leans forward slightly, and asks curiously, "Did you do something to make him mad?"

Brian seemed to almost recoil from the subject, and quickly defended himself, "Not that I can recall. I turned around to say goodbye and he tackled me to the ground, and, well, you know the rest.."

Crystal blinked and leaned back in her seat. “Hmm… Weird… I’ll try to ask him about that later.”

Brian nodded, "Alright." He looked around oddly, tapping his fingers together with a nervous habit.

Crystal sighed and tapped on the table with her fingers. She looked around awkwardly then asked him, "Well, I've told you a bit about me. So, what is there about yourself?"

Crystal grinned. "So, you've been racing for ten years, but you get beaten at go-carts by a fifteen year old girl that hasn't even touched a steering wheel in her life?"

Brian accepted the defeat, but didn't quite understand the comical party of what she had said and defended himself with, "BMX and go-carts are completely different, you know. Go-carts, you win if you've got the one with the best engine. BMX, you win if you don't fall off the bike and have strong enough legs to get the bike through the track."

Crystal smiled and shrugged. "Well, alright then. But I didn't even know what BMX was until just now." She laughed lightly.

"Yea, I've broken plenty of bones from falling in the middle of the track. I could take you to the track some time, if you'd like? Let you see what it's all about?" Brian offered.

The waitress walked over with their drinks and sat them on the table, "Your food will be here shortly." Brian nodded and took a drink of his water.
